NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

Many beautiful homes are currently plagued by vacancy, vandalism, and deterioration. Some are located in nice neighborhoods. Others can be located on streets with other vacant homes. Mortgage fraud and economic conditions have created some of these issues. But pro-active owners and occupants can be a part of the solution. Here are a set of simple guidelines that we suggest (and may require) for all owners and occupants that want to make their neighborhood a better place.

1. Join the neighborhood association and/or neighborhood watch program
2. Meet and get numbers for at least 4 neighbors (on both sides and 2 additional neighbors on the street.)

3. Have a "monitored alarm" installed on your home. (usually installed for minimal costs and around $20 per month)
4. Keep alarm sign posted in a visible spot in yard
5. Maintain fencing and keep a large outside dog in fenced in area.
6. Hang a neighborhood flag on your house or porch to show your support for the community (flags are usually available from community association)
7. Meet and get to know at least one policeman that patrols the area.

Together we can make our communities a better place!
